Jack M. Gabbert – Minister, 70, Oblong, Illinois passed away at 2:53 A.M. Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at his residence. Born in McAlester, OK on November 2, 1941, he was the son of Oliver Boyd Gabbert and Elizabeth Alois (Bross) Gabbert. He received his Bachelor of Sacred Literature from Ozark Christian College, Joplin, MO. He was a Minister for many years serving mostly in the Midwest. His hobbies included ham radio, golf, Nascar, drag racing, camping and NCAA football he was especially a big fan of Oklahoma & Nebraska. He enjoyed being with his family.
On February 13, 1960, he married Phyllis A. McIntosh, who survives. Also surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Jackie Finley, Julie & Brian Schmitt and Judie & Dee Wolfe; seven grandchildren, Nicole Funck, Drew Funck, Joshua & Karie Schmitt, Rachel Schmitt, Courtney Schmitt, Erica & Rickey Barnbrook and Jackson Wolfe; four great-grandchildren, Tyler Barnes, Marlee Shaver, Diamond and Kade Barnbrook; one brother & sister-in-law: Eddy & Liz Gabbert; one nephew and two nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Ron Culp and David Haynes will be officiating the Celebration of Life.
